Netscape 7 mail problem

I've posted about this on a netscape newsgroup, but I've not found out anything as of yet.

My girlfriend has had a number of problems with losing her emails, usually from Netscape "losing" her profiles and accounts and whatnot. Every other time this has happened, I've been able to fix them for her.

Earlier today it kind of happened again. Except, not as bad, but in a way I haven't been able to figure out how to fix as of yet.

I've tried deleting the MSF files, and a number of other files people on the newsgroup have recommended, all to no avail.

She has about five email accounts set up in her profile. Only one of the accounts, and then only the contents of the Inbox folder, were lost. Gone. At least, they are not showing up.

Yet the Inbox file for that account in that profile still reads as 65+ megs long.

Emails that have been downloaded since the contents went kaput have stayed.

I opened up the Inbox file in a text editor, and compared it with one of my own Inbox files.

My inbox file had, simply, texts of all the emails I had saved.

Her inbox file had one email header at the top that looked normal, then a bunch of stuff like this :

and so on, until the very bottom of the file, where the emails that have been downloaded since the problem are, and they are as normal.

Any ideas what happened? Or how to fix it?

Hi Michael,

I've been following your mail issue on the Netscape 7 Newsgroup, and see that you have been offered every workaround that I would have suggested. I do wish that I had a magic bullet for you, but unfortunately, that isn't the case. You are in good hands, and the best of the best have been helping you.

Yeah, I am trying to cover every base to see if I might find someone else who knows something.

Every workaround that I've been given on the newsgroups don't work. Looks like the emails just may be lost after all.
