I removed the device drivers for my old video card in preparation of installing a new card. When I restarted my computer I get the screen "updating hardware information database" It is frozen at this point, no activity, the bar hasn't moved. I can start my computer in safe mode but can't get past this screen in normal mode. Any ideas? I'm running ME.

    Hi tedgen,

Since you can start your computer in safe-mode, install the new video card drivers. Reboot to normal-mode.

I don't appear to have cd drive support in safe mode, going to have to work on that now. Thanks for the try

To make CD ROM accessible in a Safe Mode:

    1. Restart your computer to a command prompt. To do so:

Restart your computer, press and hold CTRL, and then choose Command Prompt Only from the Startup menu.

    2. At the command prompt, type "win /d:m" (without quotation marks), and then press ENTER.

thanks for the info, I finally got the card installed. I think I might have just been impatient. It took an hour for windows to update my hardware information and another hour for it to update the driver database. Again thanks to you both.
