We have several Win2000 PC's some of which can be identified on the NT4 server but some cant. Each PC owner has a valid account on the NT 4 server and can log in through other PC's but when I try to join their PC to the DOMAIN it won't allow me to as "the credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials "

I have tried adding a trust relationship with the names PC through domain manager and removing the name from the Server manager list of PC's - as this and other PC's have connected to the domain before.

Obviously some form of relationship between the Server and the PC is broken but I don't know how to fix it.

    Anyone have any ideas??

    Kind Regards

Trying to get Win2k Recognised by NT4

    Dear Newt

Thanks for the reply. I had in fact looked at the MS KB and found this article but at the time it did not provide a cure.

I then read further and realised that the PC's had been used on the network before then the connection was lost and the user then logged on to the PC instead of the PDC. They then MAPPED network drives etc. It was these Mappings which was stopping the re assignment of the PC to the network.

I disconnected them and was then able to log onto the network and reset the profiles as required.

So much for the user telling me what had happened instead of just telling me he could not log onto a new drive on the server.

All is now well and I hope this helps others.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Regards

    Glad you got it cured.

You know, if it weren't for users, our jobs would be lots easier. :D
