I am using IE 5.0 and netzero platinum as my internet connection
my problem is that every time I log onto the internet my sound card shuts down. my computer will not play any sounds or music or play cd's until I reboot. I have checked and unchecked play sounds under tools/internet options/advanced several times.
I have also tried system properties/device manager/modems/ speaker volume off but i can still hear the modem dial on the system speaker no matter which settings I choose. under multimedia it says VIA PCI audio controller(WDM) I believe this refers to the type of audio card I have. By the way I am running on windows 98se.

I have somehow fixed the problem!!!! I am a genius!!! well ok if I actually knew how I fixed this I would be. What I did was goto the options in netzero and uncheck hear modem dial. this didnt fix the problem itself but after removing and reinstalling the sound card several and I do mean several times in the device manager and rebooting about 20 times I can now logon without shutting down my sound card and best of all I can hear sounds while online and no more annoying dial up noises from my system speaker!!! that was a major run on sentance wasnt it? oh well Im so happy that I am talking to myself about it.
