This link will give the instructions you require for uninstalling PSPro
It also shows how to re-associate the files with the program you now wish to use.

    Hope this will help you.

    Hi

Try this ~ select a picture & right click - you will then see a list - look down this list & Open With should have an arrow which will show a further list - Choose program - if you select this option you will see a list of programs available for this task. Select the program & check the box ' Always use ' to open this type of file.

This should then allow you to view your photos with your choice of program.

    Hi

Yes, I realised you had removed PSpro but I thought you had saved the files as psp files and could not open them with your software now. The only thing I can think of is that you have used tools specific to PSPro & the image has been saved like this. It may be that your viewer is able to view these but a problem may arise if you e-mail this to someone else. Try & attach the file to an e-mail & see if the attachment reads psp.image OR .jpeg

If it shows psp.image this could be a problem. I still feel you should be able to make a copy & save the copy with another format & it should not have the psp tag ( not sure but worth trying )

I have discs of photos which I adjusted in PSpro - the little PSP browse icon is in the folders even when I view them on my laptop which does not have PSpro on it. I just ignore this as my images are all .jpeg. As long as you can access your photos this should not be a problem. I have just checked the files I copied to my laptop and none of them have psp tags on them.

    Hi

Looks like the uninstall has not removed everything (just like a lot of sofware)

You will have to run 'regedit' & find all the jasc folders to delete them. Back up your reg. FIRST !

click START>RUN...>type regedit. In the Registry
editor click HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software then delete the JASC folder.
While in the Reg. editor be sure to look around *at your own risk* for other remaining programs you thought you had completely deleted (you may be suprised by what you find.)

Dr Watson has obviously logged some sort of error as he is part of your XP system.

Note: This will NOT remove the PSP tag from your photos - just the remainder of the software

If they are on your e-mail with this try sending one to someone who does not have psp to see if they can view it.
Seems like you will have to find someone with PSP and try to reformat the tag within the software.

I stay away from trial versions of things as the reg.has enough debris from software I do use & then uninstall.

Something else you could try is to install Irfanview. One of it's options is to have it as the default app for all graphic/picture files. That will probably change all your pics to the Irfanview icon.

It has always been good about releasing control of any picture format when you change the associations to something else and it may be able to deal with the psp thing. If so you would be rid of the annoying icon. I know for sure Irfanview will uninstall cleanly if you want to.

And who knows, you may even like Irfanview enough to keep it as the default. I went to it a number of years ago and have never found a reason to change to anything else. It isn't the smartest picture editor in the world but for most of what I do it is fine and for the little bit where I need "fancy" I can easily do "open with" and pick an industrial strength app.
