    Hello,
I have OE5 with 3 identities but all incoming emails go to the same one while the other 2 stay blank. The sycronize all option was clicked by mistake. Did this cause the problem? If not,
what might have caused it and what does syncronize all do? Can anyone tell me how to fix this. I'm a new member and this looks like a great site. I intend to log on often to try helping others.
    Many Thanks
    Ken

First lets get this clear. Do you actually have 3 identities set up?
Or one identity with 3 accounts? They is a big difference. As far as the sync goes, it will not affect where the mail goes. If you have 3 identities, then when you click OE, it will ask which identity you want. If it just opens, then that indicates, 1 identity with 3 different accounts. It sounds like the incoming may be messed up. Open OE, click on tools, accounts, mail, highlight the account and look what it says for properties. Specifically for the email address.

Thanks for your reply. I do have 1 identity with 3 accounts.
I checked the properties of each though and everything looks fine
as far as I can tell. I was going by the switch identities line under File that changes them. I can send emails back and forth between
them ok but all incoming emails go to one and it isn't even the main one. I may not be looking for the right thing in properties.
    Thanks,Ken

Ok, if you only have 1 identity and 3 accounts, then when you click on switch identity, the only choice you should get is "main identity ". In this 1 identity you should only have 1 inbox, so all mail will go to this inbox. If you have created 2 other inboxes, then you have to "create mail rules" to have specific mail delivered to the different "inboxes ". Hope this is clear. Now if your are talking about having 3 different users on this computer, then I would create 3 different identities. Maybe explain a little more what you are trying to accomplish.

Well maybe a little history first. 3 people,3 email addresses.
These were created by clicking file, identies, add new identity.
This is second time as I had to format and redo hard drive.
worked fine prior to format and for a while after. Then changed.
Only known thing done differently was wife hit syncronize all line
Properties for each are the same as when they were working.
One area I'm not sure about is the identity folders under application data. Some changes have occured there.Several new folders have shown up and 2 of the old ones are missing the folders that are usually within them.(They're empty) Does this mean anything?
    Again,your help is very appreciated

First thing I would try is repair Internet Explorer(OE is tied to it). If your running Win98. Go to control panel, add/remove programs, look for Interent Explorer, highlight it, click add/remove, then you should get some choices, select repair IE.

Next thing would be to remove all identities and set them up again. But I would open the identity that receives all the mail, then tools, accounts, mail tab. That should show the mail accounts that are set up for that identity only. If the other identities mail accounts are listed, remove them. Then open the other Identities, then tools accounts, mail tab. If their accounts are not listed, select add. If they are listed, highlight, then properties, double check all settings.
