I am having trouble accessing some websites getting messages like this one:
    Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Apache/1.3.14 Server at ess.bc.ca Port 80

I run IE6 on my XP machine but also have IE6 on my Win98SE machine which allows me access to the same site. I have cable connection shared between the computers. I have tried to access this site with my firewall (ZoneAlarm Pro) closed down, security set to Low, privacy set to accept all cookies and disabled content advisor - all to no avail.
What else can I try to gain access?

In IE, try Tool->Options->Advanced->Towards the bottom of the list, UNcheck "Enable Intergrated Windows...... "

    Hello Bear,

If Steve's solution doesn't work: I had the same problem, turned ou to be one of ZAP's settings: Mobile Code Control. Either shut it off or play with the four settings: Script blocking - java & vbs - embedded objects - mime types.

    Regards - Charles

    Access forbidden

Unfortunately, neither Steve's or Charles' suggestion worked. I turned off the Integrated Windows option and the Mobile Control Code was off by default.
Still not able to access this website.

Could also be an encryption problem. See if in Internet options:

Tools > advanced tab, under security: use SSL 2.0 & SSL 3.0 & TLS 1.0 check boxes are ticked.

The SSL options give access to https:// sites.

    Regards -Charles

Yes, they are all ticked and no luck. I also tried setting all internet options to low security and turned off the Zone Alarm but I am still not able to access it. My win98se with IE6 has access on the shared connection. Could it be something in XP itself that is causing it??

Which sites are they? Are the messages random or do they appear for the same pages each time?

It is one site in particular that is consistently refusing me access:
    http://ess.bc.ca
There have been others but I have not taken down the url's.
