Hi, I am a newbie to Windows machines. I usually use Macintosh systems and I desperately need to wipe the hard drive and reinstall windows 2000 operating system which I have on CD. I have just wiped my hard drive clean on my comaq laptop only to find when I reboot I get a message of : NTLDR MISSING. What does this mean and why won't it boot from my Windows 2000 install CD?

Is there an easy way to do this?

    Please help!!

A search on Google finds that one guy fixed this by editing the boot sequence in the BIOS. Load up the BIOS on boot-up, find the boot sequence thingy, and change it so that it goes:
    1. Floppy Drives
    2. CD-ROM Drives
    3. Hard Disk Drives
or something similar. Save the changes and reboot. It should work. If it doesn't, drop us another post.

Try changing your boot options in the CMOS..try setting it so that your CD-ROM drive is First to load, and HD second. This should allow your system to boot up with the Windows 2000 CD

Not all windows 2000 cdroms are bootable cd's. You may need to use a win98 startup disk (floppy) with cdrom support.
