Since I upgraded to Windows XP (clean install) and allowed Windows to install my HP Deskjet 710C printer I appear not to be able to print both sides of the paper. With Windows 98 when I printed the printer 'selection' window opened and I was able to select printing in BOOK 'mode' which resulted in printing to both sides of the paper (with a prompt during printing to remove the (printed) paper and reinsert upside down.
This option is not presented as an option when I print using Windows XP.
Does anyone know how I can restore this function?
    Thankd
    John

You may try going to the HP/Compaq site and getting a driver specificly for your printer and XP. Most windows generic drivers don't have all the bells & whistles the factory drivers have. Usually they have just enough to pass the printer test...

    Hi johngarnold

Not sure how many print jobs and which program you are using to print your information out. IF the majority of these jobs are printed via a word processor, such as WORD, there are options available. When printing out a WORD doc, there is a option in the lower right corner of the printer dialog box defaulting to (print) "All pages in Range ", change this to "odd pages ". When printing done, reverse paper and select "even pages ". It may not be as convenient, but it's a solution until you can find a driver that provides all your printer options.

    Hi Johngarnold,
I had the same problem with a 682C H/P printer about a year ago.
The windows XP driver supports basic printing features. At the time, HP did not have a new driver for Windows XP so we had to purchase a new printer to get all the features. You might want to check the HP site to see if they have a new driver for your printer compatible with Windows XP.
    Good luck.

johngarnold--Perhaps not applicable to your situation, but with Win98 I find that the number of options for printing depends on
    1) the program from which I am printing
    2) whether I run Print from the Toolbar of the program, Print Preview or File|Print
    3) if I right click on the document and choose Print.
There maybe more I have forgotten.
    Hope this helps.
