In the font pull-down menu of every app that uses fonts (word processors, etc...) I found a font that I had never seen before. The menus lists a TT font that is not installed in the C:\windows\fonts folder, rendered with blurry broken outlines and is not listed in the registy key that holds all the installed fonts. So it doesn't exists (and shouldn't because it is a piece of trash). The offending pseudo font file (or bug) is not to be found anywhere in the hard disk (hidden or visible). I was certain that the only fonts available were the ones accounted for inside the fonts folder.

Any help provided to get rid of that bug will be greatly appreciated.

    Try deleting Windows/ttfcache.
It seems to be corrupt - a reuse of ttf fonts will make a new file.

    A FIX

The app to blame is Quick Time. I bumped my head trying to find a solution and spot two suspicious files that load at startup. The program C:\windows\system\QTtask.exe loads QTfont.qfn and QTfont.for in the Windows folder and those files are responsible for making appear that piece of trash of a font in every font menu. When the above app is removed from startup, the pseudo font is gone. I don't know if it's a bug, but is surely annoying. I don't know who is the one who came up with the big idea, but should be chastised.
