Hi---- After I have signed in on my user name in windows xp the desktop comes up and then two pages come up on top of desktop. One is a folder for fastlane and the other is desktopini-notepad with this information [shell]assi]localized resource name=@%\systemroot%\system 32\shell32,-21787. Could anyone tell me how to get rid of these. thank you

Hi - and Welcome to the Board :)
Simplest way is to download Startup Control Panel . Run the exe file and a new icon will appear in Control Panel.

Startup Control Panel allows you to control which programs start on boot. Hopefully you will find those you mention there.

I rather suspect that you will not find them in the Start Up folder.

No idea what Fastlane is, but you may have some Spyware on your m/c so download Spybot and AdAware if you do not already have them.

Run Spybot first and delete all it finds, then run AdAware configured for max scan - compressed folders, etc

Also run a virus scan if none of the above work and I guess you have a firewall?

HI Thank you for your suggestions. I downloaded Start Up Control Panel And it didn't list thse files. I have run virus scan, spybot and chkdsk. Fastlane is a funtion of earthlink and they guided me through the process of turning it off and that didn't work either. These thungs do not cause problems but are very annoying. I am open for any other suggstions. :) Again thank you for your help.

    regards,

    Bob
