    Hello All,
A friends computer is having trouble with error messages in OE5...All he can do is receive & read mail...Whenever he tries to send mail or go to the address book, he gets one of those shutdown messages. Here is a type of message he is getting before having to shutdown: MSIMN caused an invalid page fault in
    module WAB32.DLL at 0167:02fef653.

James Martin--WAB32.DLL is an Address Book file. Here is a specific fix.
    http://support.earthlink.net/mu/1/psc/img/walkthroughs/windows_9x_nt/email/oe_5.0/1795.psc.html

But, you say your friend is running OE5. What version of Internet Explorer is running? Often different versions of OE and IE are not compatible.
If now running IE 6, perhaps your friend should update to OE6?
When doing so it will also be desireable to install various patches available through Windows Update.

    Thanks Welshjim,
I will pass this information along to my friend...It may be a few days before I can post back with the results...He's a long haul driver. BTW, he is using IE5 or 5.5...Are these 2 the same?

    Regards,
    J. M.

James Martin--Not necessarily. There are (were) versions 5.0, 5.01, 5.5 as well as several Service Packs (SP's) for each.
If you want all the details and to learn how to determine what version is on the PC go here
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;164539
If he is using 5.0 or 5.01 that could be the problem. And MS no longer offers 5.5 (although it can be gotten elsewhere). In view of the problem, it might be best to install IE6 (which with a full install includes Outlook Express 6). The main drawbacks are
    1) The download is large and takes forever, if dial up is used
    2) He will then need to go to the Windows Update site and get the Critical Updates offered.
P.S. Depending on the version of Windows used, your friend might try to Repair Internet Explorer. Start|Programs|Accessories|System Tools|System Information|Tools|Repair Internet Explorer Tool|Wait. It might be good to reboot, too.
