What is it called when you reboot, and you see a picture background, that gets covered up with a second picture that is what you have set as wallpaper in desktop/properties/background? Am I clear with my question? I was just wondering where the first picture comes from and where I have to go to change it. Thank you for your time.

    Scootr,

the first screen you get when you reboot is the Windows splash screen then it goes to your desk top. After reboot if you have a wallpaper set allready it will come up with the desk top.

If you want to add a desk top you can either highlight a picture and right click it and choose set as wallpaper or you can

Start>Settings>Control panel>Display>background and choose a wallpaper that in the box allready apply>Ok.

The wall paper you choose should stay until you decide to change it again.

    Best Regards,
    FireDancer ;)

Natively, when you boot a Windows 98 computer, first you get a Windows Splash Screen, a BLANK screen, and then the Wallpaper.

Instead of getting a blak screen, many people have a screen that's from left over wallpaper. ONE of the ways that left over wallpaper gets in there is when you select a graphic and SAVE AS WALLPAPER, especially from the interent.

It gets stuck in there when you go to DISPLAY and change the wallpaper from there.

It used to bug me until I found a way to control it. I used Webshots to add graphics to that second screen. Then I would go into the DISPLAY and change the Wallpaper itself.

Also, I'd use a freeware call WinLogo Changer to change the splash and shutdown screens. When I was running Windows 98SE, ALL my screens were custom! But no regediting or hassle!

    Problem solved

I was looking through the Forums last night about wallpaper and found where someone said to uncheck the box that says view my desktop as a web page under the web tab at the display. Sure enough when I rebooted, I got one wallpaper for splash screen and it stayed for the desktop as well. Thanks for your help
