I have a Logitech optical wheel mouse (USB), HP Pavillion running XP home. I want the wheel to scroll 5 lines at a time, so I open mouse properties and make it so, click apply then OK. The next time I power up my laptop, it only scrolls 1 line at a time so I do it all over again. My question is: is there a way to save this setting so I don't have to go through this every time I power up.

I know this is pety, but it irritates me to no end!!!!!!!!

I've only worked on Dell laptops. There all come with software for the touchpad witch has the scrolling setting also. Might look to see if your hp has this.

Powertoys for XP has this under the Mouse subdirectory. Get it from the Micro$oft site.

    Steve & John,

Thanks for the responses. Not being rude, but maybe I wasn't very clear on my needs (I downloaded the powertoys as John suggested and tried it also, didn't hep), I can change the settings very easily, the problem is that Windows, or something is not saving the settings when I log off or shut down. I had a similar problem with Outlook Express not saving passwords, & after some research, I found this awesome :D website that told me how to edit the registry to make OE remember my passwords. I was hoping for the same result from this post, that some one knew how to make the mouse properties "remember" my settings.

    Some more suggestions.

Uninstall, reboot then reinstall the Logitech Mouseware?

    Do you have version 9.78?

Have you tried a registry cleaner such as Fixit?

Have you disabled the touchpad/pointing stick (on Dells that's via the bios)?

There are known conflicts between Logitech USB mice in laptops and touchpads. I have bought a USB>PS2 converter and use my USB Trackman cordless wheel mouse as a PS2 and that solved my problem which was that I couldn't go into standby mode nor disable the touchpad.

    Have you contacted Logitech support?

    John,

THANK YOU!!!!!! I never installed the Logitech driver, so I went to the web site, downloaded, installed, and my problem was solved. Boy do I feel stupid, thanks for the wake up call!
