DvD/cd rom has gone from windows xp.

    ok, i booted up my computer (laptop, intel pentium 3 ,1gig hert, 256 mb ram, 32 mb video card) normally and i go to my computer, and my d: (DvD/Cd Rom) has gone, i dont have a clue what happend. But i tried doing so much. the prob is that the drive doesnt have any markings of the brand on it. and well.....any got any idea?

    A few suggestions...

    Is the CD in the device manager? Right click any device and and select "scan for hardware changes" if its not. If it is delete it and restart windows and let it redetect it.
    Check the IDE cable and/or reseat the cable on the IDE connector on the M/B and back of the CD drive.
    Use system restore (Start|Help and Support...) to restore the PC to a restore point before the CD disappeared and see if it return.

    thanks, i got it covered, i took it to my local manufacturer and he said that the cd has completely well, dare i say....shat itself. so im getting another one on warrenty, thanks paul.
