I have Win Xp Pro and as soon as I log on, it starts to dial out automaticaly. If I disconnect, it does the same after a few seconds. I'm sure ther must be a check box not ticked properly but does anyone have any ideas.

I do have 2 other accounts on the PC but they are not in use at the time I access my account. Also the Network is not in use either. I use a 56k dial up connection.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Hello Jetheat,

In the internet options section of the control panel > connections tab, tick the never dial a connection option.

    Hello Jetheat,
If charlesvar's suggestion doesn't work. I had the same problem and it didn't work. I found out that my antivirus program was dialing up for an automatic update. Check any programs that can be updated to make sure that you have unchecked automatic updates. or update automatically. Whatever the terminology is for that program. I know it isn't suppose to open the dial up, but mine did.
    Good luck,
    Marty525

A bug in one of the earlier versions of ZoneAlarm did this - if you are using ZA try an upgrade to the latest version.

    Hi Jetheat,

If it is a case of a program wanting to dial out at startup per Marty's and Pete's suggestions, and you can't find out which one - some progs make it damm difficult - then use msconfig to stop your startups from starting up one at a time until you catch the bugger.

    Regards - Charles

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have now disabled Auto Update on McAfee VS.

I'll have to wait and see the results.
    Thanks again
