Running XP. I keep "losing" my cd-rw and dvd-rw drives. (2 separate drives). They keep disapearing from the "My Computer" view/window. This happens when I put a cd into the drive, blank or used, and not every time.
Rebooting finds them again. There are also several other drives which are for different type smart cards. No problems there.
    I don't think it's a memory problem (512 and 2 empty slots), but
I don't know where to start looking for the problem. Any ideas?

    Hello Trudi,

a little more information about PC u are using can make it easyer to reply.
I give it a shot, try to install the IDE drivers again because the bios is logging them but the are gone in XP.
A other thing, open the PC and (POWER OFF) and pull out IDE cable at both ends an plug them in again!

    Hello Trudi,

because some problems are related to specific hardware and howe the are plugt in the computer, even type motherboard and type CD / Rw drive and are the both on de same IDE cable and is the master and slave setting alright. The suggestion i made to pull out cables and put them in again is that the probem is there sometimes and then i am thinking that it caused by the hardware because heet/cold moving from PC and things like dat make the differance. I saw a lot of week plugt in connectors!! So if you now more about the computer you can answer more specific!
