Have a strange problem for the past several days. Have searched this forum and tried to follow thru with all suggestions. My trouble started when I installed and un installed (at least I think it started then) Mailbox folder (to get rid of the spam). Something made both kerio and Panda Anti virus to stop working. (Yes it is all up to date).

Anyways, if I reload them the little icons come up in the sys-tray and then disappear within a blink of an eye. Have un-installed the programs and reinstalled them but have the same problem. I have also noted that I could be viewing a site like this one and I get bounced out back to desktop and that Panda's protection notice keeps flashing on the screen about every 30 seconds.

Have checked for viruses & trojans using both online and off line software. And nothing comes up. Did both Ad-aware and spybot both nothing there either.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to get system back to normal, where the programs will run as normal? Also noted that when I reboot the system I get an error message something to the effect about not finding autochk.exe not being found in the system.

Thank you for any and all help in this.

Click on this link and read it.

The process is about the same for W2k Pro.

Thank you for your info and the link. Had already tried that but still had the same problem. Did a chkdsk thru Windows explorer and that seemed to take care of the autocheck problem. However, I still have the problem of programs loading & unloading automatically.

To remove a "mailbox" should have meant removing an account configuration from your mail client. I don't know what you may mean by Mailbox folder.

What is your mail client and what was the folder removed?

I don't know Panda Anti-virus so I don't know how it might have been involved with any given mail account.

Typically, anti-virus filters for e-mail are set up and employed through the use of some kind of proxy. The proxy looks like a mail client to the mail server and looks like a mail server to the mail client. In other words, it becomes a middle man for the mail flow. This generally operates by setting up the filter proxy on the local host IP address and through the use of standard pop3 and smtp ports. This communication has nothing to do with a mailbox folder or any other folder.

Kerio, on the other hand, will, likely, have nothing to do with a folder at all. It looks at the IP traffic data stream to pass, deny or alert traffic at specific ports.

Is it that the icons are disappearing and the programs remain running, or are the programs shutting down as well when the icons disappear.

You could try uninstalling and re-installing Panda Anti-virus and Kerio.

The program I am (was) using for filter out spam is Mailbox Filter Trial. This is where it all started after installing said program. Both Kerio & Panda anti-virus (icons would completely disappear) and programs ceased to function. Have removed programs using Registry Cleaner and re-installed all but Mailbox Filter. Problem still remains.

Re-installed backup of registry using WinRescue 2000 (that I know was good before problems started). The only thing that I did not do was re-install the backup config file. Will try that next and will post outcome.

Thank you for recent and all help in solving problem.
