Windows update disappeared from the startup menu and I cannot get it back on. I put the update link in favorites and can only access it from there. How do i get this feature back? Thanks, geo

Yes, I am running Xp Pro, but I was able to go to the update site frm START, and click on the update icon at the top of the start menu...It is no longer there.
I tried creating a shortcut from my favorites menu to the desktop then dragging it to the start menu but it says that the link cannot be found.

Right click on the link in your favorites. While holding down the right mouse button drag it onto the start button and hold there until the start menu pops up. Then drag it to all programs, when the programs menu pops open drag it into the programs menu to wherever you want it located and let go of the mouse button. When you release the mouse button a menu will pop up. Either choose move here or copy here. It's your choice.

I suggest starting IE and then use the Windows update from Tools.

The one from the Start menu I have had problems with. More so when I was on Dial-up.

On cable it has also been a problem a time or two when I did test it.
