Just a couple of questions :
    - what Home Page have you set up in internet options ?
    - can you get to no sites at all ? eg those in your Favourites
    menu ?
    regards

Sorry, but another couple of questions as I do not know any answers yet.
    - is this a problem that has recently occurred ?
    - is the ISP connection correctly set up in line with their
instuctions; have you discussed the problem with them ?
    - have you rechecked all the Dialup parameters ?

    regards

This prob. started only a few days back, and i have this prob. only on my laptop. The internet works fine on my desktop computer.
Yes i talked to my ISP about this, they told it was not a prob. with my connection as my desktop pc works properly. Yes i also tried putting default settings, still it dosn't work.

I would guess you have a problem on the Laptop with
a defective or old winsock.dll because the problem affects both
    internet and mail.
What is the size and version of it on the Laptop ?
The file is in your Windows folder.
    regards
