    Hi All--
Don't know if this is the right forum or not but here goes...
For a couple of years my wife's office was running fine with W95/98/98SE using network neighborhood and MS Mail. I had set it up and could handle any issues as they arose. They just upgraded to XP and Office XP and as you probably know there is no MS Mail, only Exchange.
    Here are my questions:
    1. I assume I need an Exchange server setup and it is a stand alone purchase.
    2. But, could I bring the appropriate files from W98 (I did this on a W2000 machine and it worked) into XP and install NET BUI?
    3. Or could I take an extra machine they have that is still W98 and run the MS Mail server through that machine (I have both XP and W98 machines sharing MS Mail here at my office so I thought that might work).

Or am I barking up the wrong tree. The machines are sharing files just fine...it's just that I'd like to get them back to the MS Mail-type set up.

Sorry for the long post...thanks for any help

You could try installing the old Postoffice in XP. As you say, it works in Win2k but installing Outlook XP is likely to mess it up. For the setup files/instructions, see winntwms Q254458 Q258211

For details on adding MS Mail client support to Outlook 2002 see here .

Of course, none of this is supported by MS. There are also some good freeware POP3 servers you could try like ArGoSoft .
