    Hi guys,

All of a sudden, probally due to some funny program install, my XP stopped savings the desktop settings. After a reboot, it always goes back to the basic setup, no wallpaper, task bar classic and locked, etc.

I can change everything back but it will not stick. XP is fully up to date, SP1, etc.

    Any ideas?

Is this Windows XP computer and/or your user account part of a Windows domain?

    Hello apeferreira,

I suggest you use System Restore to go back to a point prior to the problem and find out what "funny program install" occurred and either fix the install or not install software that does that.

    Regards - Charles

    Thanks guys for the reply...

No, the XP is a workstation connected to a Novell network, not a MS domain and our policies would not cause this problem.

Regarding to go back to a restore point, it would fix the problem but unfortunately my last restore point is a very old one. What I would like to know is what point of the registry has been altered to cause this.

I know it is not a big drama as everything else works OK but I am curious about it...

    Thanks anyway.
