Grisoft AVG problem

Win98 SE:
Having a problem with Grisoft AVG. The boot AV search works but I cannot access the control panel. When I try to open it, i get:

Driver (Core) not Found Winerr=3

I am wondering if this is a shared file that got deleted by accident. I can find no uninstall in the AVG folder or in Add/Remove Programs. They do not offer support on the free version. And I hesitate to delete it. They assign serial numbers and they may not allow me to re-download it. Perhaps if I could satisfy the error condition listed above it would work.

 

I'd start with reinstalling. I had a similar problem when installing on my Windows 2000 box. Just type your serial # in again when asked for one. You might also check what version you're running too. If the version number of AVG is below 6.0.100 it may be an issue of AVG not correctly identifying your operating system version. This problem was fixed with AVG version 6.0.100 or higher.

If you don't have a newer setup, download the trial version from AVG's site and replace the trial serial number with your own. This will install the full version.
