I found my old computer in storage. its got win95 on it and hasnt worked in over 5 years (i think the power source died cause it wasnt the bios)

i was thinking of stealling the hard drive and installing it in this computer to give it more space and maybe retrieve some of my old files.

i know that you can have a second hard drive but you have to hook it up a certain way so that it doesnt think it is the main drive and try to boot first.

how do i do it? do i need anything special, like hook up thingies/cables or something? how do i get this hard drive to recongnize the other one when i get it installed?

i know it can be done, i just have really no idea how to do it

know any sites with pictures and details so i can figure this out.
i tend to do better with pictures cause i cant remember what everything is or what it does.

    help!

The ribbon cable that your current drive is using "should" have a second plug. You just need to use that and a spare power connector. Make sure the "jumper" pins on the old drive is set to CS or slave.

how do i make sure of that?

there are six lil pins between the two places that had stuff hooked up to there on the old computer. i assume that is where the "jumper" pins are.

I see a plastic bit that covers two of them

    pp.
    . . .

well, that is sorta how it looks

    is that right?

You got the right location, now look around on the hard drive there should be something there that will tell you where that jumper (the plastic bit) needs to be placed to make it a slave drive.
