    Vmm32.Vxd is a compilation of several VXD files, meant to decrease bootup time instead of loading a bunch of files. It is created during Windows setup and is machine specific.
    You are going to have to reinstall windows, again. I believe you have a recovery option on the recovery cd vs a complete format and install.
    Since you seem to have a problem with the CD, your windows setup files are usually copied into the folder C:\Windows\Options\Cabs. You can go to Bootdisk's and get a file to create a boot disk for you. Doubleclick the downloaded file with a floppy in the drive and one will be created for you. Boot with the floppy, choose without CD rom support and type in this command at the prompt;
    c:\windows\options\cabs\setup.exe

    May I ask why you and others keep saying " without CDROM support " ?

    I myself can not think of a reason. And I do not have a Boot disk with a menu anyway. But that is my doing.

    It has nothing to do with anything other than making the CDROM available ?

    And does not hurt a thing.

    I only suggest it as a few less things loaded into memory when running windows setup from the hard drive. And no, it really doesn't hurt a thing.

    Thank you.

    I just never worried about that.
