I'm venturing into creating windows hlp files for the first time and have run into a problem.

I compiled the help document using the compiler that comes with Visual Studio 6 on an XP machine. When I open the hlp file on XP everthing looks fine. However, when I move the hlp file to an ME machine it will not display the contents page. When I click the 'Contents' button it displays the first page instead. That is also the page displayed when it first comes up. Why can I not get the contents page to display on ME (I don't have access to any 9x machines so I don't know what happens there)? Help files are not OS dependent, are they?

    TIA.

Try updating the ME machine at windows update and also the latest version of IE.

Thanks for the reply. I already did that. The only updates are the non-English languages I don't use.
