I am using IE v.5 and I have my an empty folder in the Favourites named "Links ". Since it is an empty folder and I don't remember that i created it myself I delete it. However, every time i run IE and i go to my favourites, i notice that this folder is being re-created all the time. is there a way of keeping this folder from being created automatically ?

    Thanks

    Hi maxmangion!

There´s a registry entry for this folder which can be edited as below:

    Start/Run/Regedit

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar.

Set the String value of "LinksFolderName" to equal a blank string.

Open IE and delete the Links folder from the Favorites menu. The next time you start Internet Explorer the Links folder will not be recreated.

An easier way is to right-click the folder, choose "properties" and set as "hidden ". It will still be there but You´ll not see it ......

    HTH,
    Christer

Edited - came to notice that You specified IE5, the method I suggested is for IE6 but I think it´s the same ......

    Open Windows Explorer.

Click Tools - Folder Options - Show

Click the Radio Button "Show hidden files and folders "

    Click OK

No You can find the Favorites Folder ( somewhat faded to indicate that it´s hidden) right-click on the folder, choose Properties - untick "hidden ".

The location of the Favorites Folder depends on which OS.

If You wish You can undo the change made in Folder Options (not show hidden ......)

(My computer speaks swedish so, if my translations aren´t on the spot I hope You´ll find it anyway.)

actually my pc is set to "show all files ". However, in the favourites menu, the Links folder is not being displayed at all.

Mind you since it is an empty folder, I don't mind at all about it.

    Thanks again.
