I looking for a book or two that will explain to me about networking what is a network and about the network itself. I have knowledge about networking now but want to learn more about the network, more about routers, switches, hubs as in setting them up, why are they needed, etc...

Is there any books out there for something like this.
    thanks,
    Bill

Depends what aspects of networking you want to pursue...

The books I used are all about 20 years old...

...they had titles that incorporated phrases like "fundamentals of data communications "

...but why not use the web?

Click on this -- Black boxes

    Click on this - Ethernet

Charles Spurgeon wrote a book on Ethernet for O'Reilly -- I haven't seen it -- don't have an opinion.
