    dc,

More than likely you have some spyware in your system - download Spybot and AdAware

Run Spybot first and delete all it finds, then run AdAware and delete all it finds. Always run Spybot before AdAware.

If you don't have a firewall get one fast! ZoneAlarm or Kerio Personal Firewall are both freeware and generally work well - Kerio is preferred by many on the board.

The firewall should be configured to stop popup ads if possible. If not try
    KillPopup

    Firewalls

    Hello All,
Concerning firewalls, I use a dialup connection...I was told I did'nt need a firewall since I was'nt online 24/7...does that make any sense.

Alot of people use ZA or Kerio who are on dial-up. Doesn't hurt a thing and adds a measure of protection. It becomes more important when one is on 24/7.

Always use a firewall whatever your connection - it only takes microseconds for an intrusion to occur. There is a 50:50 chance that it will be high rated and potentially dangerous.

Since I upgraded to ZA Pro some 6 months ago I have had over 7000 blocked intrusions - on dial-up.
