Hi all, I'm back. Thanks to Peter, and his brilliant advice, I can now refresh my IE window. BUT, the only way I can open IE, is if I go thru my hotmail messenger. At first, nothing happened when I clicked to open IE. Now, the window flashes up for a moment, and then it's gone.

I'm using IE version 6, Windows xp, Kerio Firewall, Spybot, Easy Cleaner, RegCleaner, and RegScrub. (Did I miss anything, Peter?)

Does anyone have some advice, as to how I can rectify the opening IE dilemma?

    AND

Does anyone know what the following might be? It keeps crashing into my firewall, and asking for approval. I keep denying, because I haven't got a clue, as to what it is...

Details: Someone on address 68.85.55.228 wants to send ICMP packet to your machine
Details about application: tcpip kernel driver

Thanks everyone, for your help. And thank you, very much, Peter.

Wish I could help you with the IE page problem, but I may be able to help you with the IP thing.

Your firewall is trying to contact Comcast to exchange info with it. Are you using Comcast as your server? If you are, then it's ok to let them exchange info. If not, then you can get a hold of them and tell them to STOP sending you stuff! Here is a good IP search site to use if you want to know who's trying to get into your computer. I keep it as a shortcut on my desktop if I need to find an IP address fast.

Here it is: IP SEARCH . It's from Arin.

Good luck on the IE page problem. Sorry I couldn't help there.

    :)

Comcast is not my server. I'll have to check that out. Thank you so much.

I couldn't resist making this for you.....

I give up. I don't know why I can't post it, but here's the url.

You can't display pictures here. It's the rule. Check out the rules for this BBS. The link is perfect! LOVED IT!!!! Thanks!!!!!! Can I use it????

Glad the site was a help to you. I seem to remember getting that same Packet request from ComCast when I first set up my firewall. Sneaky, aren't they?

Good luck on your other problem.

    :)

Looked at your original post again - has the problem of multiple IE windows been solved?

I think we are at the stage where a Repair of Internet Explorer is the only option.

So the first task is to export your Favourites to 'safe' place, say My Documents -

In IE > File > Import and Export and follw the Wizard through.

    You could export Cookies too.

Then run a repair of IE as outlined in the link above - note that you may need your XP installation CD.

Keep us posted on progress please.

NB If you use Panda's link to find the source of an IP address you need to type the IP address e.g. 68.85.55.228 into the query box - had me fooled for a moment - I guess it's obvious, but it passed me by :)

Of course you can use it, silly. That' why I made it. Just let me know when you've got it uploaded, so I don't delete it, before you've saved it. :)

NO IMAGES ALLOWED??!!?!?!? I did read the rules, but that one must have been too painful to remember.

The multiple windows problem seems to be rectified. I'm still looking for help, with opening IE. I'll keep working on it, but don't give up on me, if it takes me a bit to get back to you. ;)

    Thanks!

Good luck on your other problem.
