I installed a SpyBot program to filter out all the cookies etc. Now what I try to go to Tools / Internet Options I get a message:

"That option has been suspended, contact your network administrator for assistance. "

It also shut off some important JAVA apps which I need. I tried playing with the Spybot software, but couldn't find anything that would have done this. I even uninstalled the Spybot software, but the damage was already done.

Do you have any ideas on how I can bypass this? I am not on a company network, so there shouldn't be a password to override.

    Thanks,

    Matt

This is a very common error or problem, its not SpyBot problem

I'm not sure if the IE options stick when SpyBot is uninstall-ed ,I wouldn't think so, But if I were to uninstall i would first undo any
    protections made by SpyBot,,
I would also do this before updating IE---- though thats just a precaution.

Please reinstall SpyBot then on its immunize page uncheck or undo the [ ] lock IE control panel against user,, this actually provides no protection when surfing, its for other users on you PC.
what are these script programs ?
on the immunize page again uncheck the other protections..
These were not set as default , you must have set them.

This lock IE control panel is nice to have here because the other users cant change anything> BUT< on this windows ME PC they could just go at it through control panel> IE options.
I think on some computers this isn't so..

"I installed a SpyBot program to filter out all the cookies etc "
It does block a few cookies, but that is not what its for.

For the record, here is the reference that backs up what Lonny has correctly told you:

    ================copy/paste================

I can't access my IE settings any more! FAQ #024

Internet Explorer tells you to contact your administrator when you try to access the IE settings?
This can happen if you use Spybot-S&D in advanced mode and you have used the Immunize feature without reading all the text ;)

Please start Spybot-S&D again in advanced mode (usually from the Start menu {snip}) and go to the Immunize page.
There you'll see a group <of> Recommended miscellaneous options. Untick the checkboxes in front of both Lock IE... options. You may need to close all Explorer windows, and maybe even restart Windows before these changes take place.

Hint: this lock function has been added mostly for multi-user environments where you wouldn't want other users of your computer to change your IE settings. If you are the only user of your computer, there's no real need to enable them.
