    OK, I doubt that I'll provide enough info but will try. Recently I installed a web cam. Since then I have almost predictable lockup when ever I visit the Logitech Image Studio page. Also have had same probs when in canon zoombrowser. It freezes. ctrl, alt delete are also frozen. Nuttin moves or responds. I have to use the restart button on the computer. I should also mention that I'm an edummy.

    You posted this in the Internet Explorer forum so then you are locking up only when using Internet Explorer? What version of IE are you running (check in Help About Internet Explorer) and what is your Windows Version?

    Since the problem started after instaling a web cam, a good place to start would be to give more information (make and model - Logitech, I assume?... also what is showing in Device Manager for the new device) You might want to check on the manufacturer's website yourself, for a support link or FAQs. If you can't use IE for that, do you have another browser instaled, like maybe Netscape??? If that locks up too then it is not an IE issue and you may want to repost in your Windows version forum or possibly hardware or Applications.

    Alice, I thank you for your response, belatedly and would tell you that I am using: IE6, W98se, AMD Athlon 750 and Logitech cam. I've taken out the logitech. I've done all that I can but my understanding of computers is very limited. With my limited knowledge I seem to be having trouble locking up when I'm online trying to access video or still pix, and I think there may be a relationship with audio. When I went to an online page of (Adobe) of instructions for something. ???? It sometimes it will lock just after going to a Yahoo site. I've had it lock up off line when going to a foto album stored on my computer. I'm hoping you or someone else may have an idea of what the prob. is and how to fix it. TIA, eDummy

    Hi zeek,

    I would start with the following, from http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q127/1/39.ASP
    Troubleshooting Video Problems in Windows
    ===============copy/paste===================
    Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows Me has a built-in method for troubleshooting video problems. There is a slider you can adjust to change the way Windows uses the video card. It is a good idea to start with the setting on the right (the Full setting) and move the slider one setting to the left until you find the setting that works best. To use the slider to change the way Windows uses the video card, follow these steps:

    1. In Control Panel, double-click System.
    2. Click the Performance tab, and then click Graphics.
    3. Note that the Hardware Acceleration slider has four settings (Full, Most, Basic, and None). <snip>
    NOTE: If you reduce the graphics acceleration, and the problem no longer occurs, you can generally leave your system on this setting. The Basic or None setting is more compatible than Full in most cases. However, for best performance, or if you have programs that require full acceleration, contact the manufacturer of your display adapter for updated drivers. Some high-performance games require full acceleration.
    ===============end c/p======================

    I would temporarily reduce graphics acceleration a notch or two and see if it helps. Also look over my notes on lockups and freezes and see if you find anything helpful:
