    Hello All,
A while back, I was trying to reload a driver & some how managed to reconfigure my Device Manager by disabling Advanced Power Management feature...It is no longer listed in my Device Manager. My computer still works, but seems like it's a bit slower. Is there a way to reverse this, or should I be concerned about it at all?...Will it cause my system to use more electricity?...What exactly is APM for??

    J. M. :)

On Win98 APM is more trouble than it is worth. I killed mine over a year ago as one measure in trouble shooting a shutdown problem.

It is analogous to having your TV on standby so if left for long periods of inactivity then yes it will save a bit it of electricity but if your machine is going to be left unattended long enough to make a difference I'd be inclined to just turn it off.

Disabling it should not slow your machine down.

There'a good article at MS on this topic.

Run the Add New Hardware Wizard in the Control Panel and it may be found for you.
