    Hi,

Does anyone know anything about Clip Cache? Its kind of a sensitive program I guess and it keeps disappearing from my
taskbar. I had no idea Clip Cache didn't have support people to help so here I am.

When I point to the Icon in my sys tray with the cursor it simply disappears. I also can't open it from Programs. I'd sure appreciate some help. Thanks.

Thanks to all of you for responding. Clip Cache is a program that captures everything you happen to "copy." Its real handy if you want to copy portions of articles from the Net because CC also gets rid of all the <<< type things you see at every line, it gets rid of blank lines too. In other words, it makes things you copy from the Net very readable and concise, w/o a lot of empty lines and <<<'s.

I have XP. I got this advice once from an address similar to the one given to me above: "If your operating system is XP, perhaps your "disappearing icon" problem is related to the operating system. I have read reports of how WindowsXP
indiscriminately does not show tray icons, it can affect any tray icon, not just ClipCache. If you have not already done so, I would suggest installing Service Pack 1 from Windows Update. Alternatively if you assign a hotkey to the main window in ClipCache tools|options|hotkey, you can bring the window up without the need for the tray icon. You could also change the options so ClipCache is always visible on the task bar. "

I don't know how to install Service Pack 1 and I can't find CC to make a hot-key for it. And CC 'is' visible in the tray, but it just disappears when I put my cursor on it.

First, for the CC icon problem:
    1. Right click on any empty space on the Task Bar
    2. Left click on Properties
    3. Left click on the Customize button
    4. Scroll down the list to find the entry for CC and click on it to select it
    5. Click on the drop-down arrow that appears to the right of the CC entry and click on "Always Show "
    6. Click on OK and OK again - and see if the CC icon stays put when you point the cursor at it.

    For the SP1 installation:
Do you have automatic updating enabled? If you're not sure (and to find out if SP1 might already have been installed) go to Start>My Computer and RIGHT click on My Computer, left click on Properties. In the information on the first tab, under the "System" category, it will say Windows XP and then either Home or Pro and then the version number and then "Service Pack 1" if it's installed.

If SP1 isn't installed, you need to go to the Windows update site and check for updates...which should be done periodically every couple of weeks or so. Get any service packs and critical updates, don't get any driver updates. You get to the update site through Internet Explorer>Tools>Windows Update.

    Miz,

You're not off track at all. I'm learning to love geeks :)

I hadn't tried those things but when I did, Clip Cache was sitting not in current items but "Past Items" and my only option was to change it from hide to 'always show' so I did that. The Icon reappeared in the tray but disappeared when I ran my cursor over it. So I went to Start and double-clicked on Clip Cache Plus and it wouldn't load. But...2 icons then appeared in the tray and also did the disappearing act.

For the SP1 it said I didn't need any critical ones but there were 15 recommended.... I will go there and load those and let you know...none are drivers.

    Thanks! I'll be back.

Thought I should add this...every time I boot up (for a long time now), I get a message that says "Clipboard extender has encountered a problem and needs to close." CC is a sort of clipboard isn't it? And every time I close down I get a message about MessageApp needing to close.
