It will not show certain pictures on selected websites. All I get is the above message. I'm having the same problems with Netscape. Any ideas?

    rsdyrda Hi
    Do you get these :
messages within a web page ? or is the message the whole page ?
More important does this always happen at a paticular site,
    Post a couple links here.

Include you version info on IE, netscape and the OS
any popup blockers ,firewall, anything that may monitor an Internet connect(third party)

    Hi
Well with the first site thats a good thing , they are just adds from doubleclick and are not content nor links from the site to other areas or same site .Or better said, are not valid content, and not having them wont interfear with the web site.
when I went there they were blank(lots of them) if I turned off my popup blocked then I see the page cannot be displayed for those areas, so something is blocking them or truely the page cannot be displayed(something wrong with the sites source code) or maybe just to much internet traffic.
I think its just something wrong with doubleclick's add
    /ad.doubleclick.net/

I dont have a problem with:
    http://www.avsim.com/pages/top1.shtml
    http://www.avsim.com/pages/main_page.shtml
But there is a sort of form at the top(or header), maybe your IE settings need adjusting, or its timming out,
try going to the first then the second link posted , can you see them ?

    Regards
    Lonny

    rsdyrda--
What happens when you right click on "Post reply" (or any other of the images you now cannot see) and then "Show Pictures "?
If you get the "picture" I suspect you are a victim of some server problems with your ISP. Nothing much you can do about it. But if it keeps on happening, let them know about it.
Concerning not getting the doubleclick ads, as Lonny Jones says, you are not missing anything. If Show Pictures mentioned above does not help, it may be that you have a HOSTS file and doubleclick is in it. No need to change that unless you want to see the ads.

rsdyrda--The more I read, the more I wonder how much of the problem is seeing certain pictures/ads and how much is seeing the website itself.
Here is an MSKB article about problems accessing a website.

rsdyrda--To be sure I understand, you
    1) Can open some websites and see everything fine
    2) Can open some websites and see no or not all the images/ads
3 ) Cannot open some websites at all, and you get that message.
    Correct?
If so, those symptoms are consistent with
    A) having a firewall and/or ad/popup blocker as suggested by Lonny Jones. So, if you have one or more, disable them individually and see if that helps, or
    B) perhaps you have a HOSTS files which is blocking access to some sites? See this thread--especially the posts from TonyKlein toward the bottom
    http://forums.techguy.org/t135917/sb4b61428c0abc93ea3501029c8f0025f.html
P.S. You may have two or more problems so try all. And, if you are paying them for service, have you spoken to your ISP?
P.P.S. Less likely, but if none of the above work, you should try running an antispyware program (like Ad-Aware or Spybot S&D).
    AdAware
    http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/
    Spybot
    http://security.kolla.de/
Hope you can access these sites.
I assume you have an Antivirus program (with up-to-date virus definitions) running all the time in the background and/or run periodic scans with it.

For the record, this is copied from the Netscape thread:

as far as panicware it has been removed from my system. it is not the problem, ie worked fine for 1 yr with it on. this problem happened when i installed netscape.

In addition to WelshJim's advice, seeing that the problem started when you installed Netscape I would:

Open Netscape, go to Edit, Preferences. Click the "plus" sign next to Advanced (to expand the category) then select System. On the System preferences screen I would UNcheck any boxes under filetypes or protocols which you might have set when you installed Netscape. Then close Netscape.

Now do the following to reset IE as the default browser and to reset IE's default settings:
    1. Go to IE's Internet Properties (Control Panel, Internet Options or by right-click on IE desktop icon/ select Properties)
    2. Click the Programs tab, place a checkmark in the box in front of "Internet Explorer should check to see if it is the default browser" if it is not already checked, then click the "Apply" button.
    3. Click the Advanced tab, click Restore Defaults.
    4. Click the Security tab, click each item, and click Default Level.
    5. Click Privacy tab, change to slider bar to Medium.

OK out of Internet Properties. Now start Internet Explorer and say YES if IE asks to become your default browser. See if things improve.

PS. Someone like Welshjim or Lonny would be better to help you with your IE6 issues... I'm running IE5.5sp2 myself ;)
