i downloaded a file yesterday. Altogether getting this file (zip file) took me about 13 hours of downloading. Now when i go to uncompress the main .exe file which sets up the program, winzip stops and produces this error message a third of the way through decompression.

"Error: Invalid compressed data to inflate "

    With this log file:

    Extracting to "C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\Local Settings\Temp\ "
Use Path: yes Overlay Files: no
    Extracting Fusion Pack v11 MOD.exe
Error: invalid compressed data to inflate

Why is this happening? I dont think i can be bothered downloading it again. I have read of this problem on a few sites, but the problem is often solved with simply upgrading winzip to 8.1, which is the version i have.

    Hi Rob001

Is this the retail version or the mod wouldnt you first have to Have the retail version and then use the password for the Mod
"Fusion Pack v11 MOD version. Installation Password: fusemebitch" or would just owning counter strike be enough, if so then I dont see why they say (here) retail version.

I dont think its a winzip fault .perhaps created wrong with winzip or a corrupted download.
You could ask winzip:(till someone clue's in here with what's going on)

i definately needed the mod version. The password is for part of the installation, but i cant unzip the setup file. I didnt download it from the site you mentioned, but another reliable one which has the same download size.

I do not think this is a Winzip problem. Could be but also it may not be.

If it took 13 Hours to download the file there is a VERY REAL possiblility that there was a hiccup during time which WILL mess things up. And BADLY.

Or, if the download quit and was restarted at all that may drop a BIT or two.

All it takes is a missing Byte or two.

Naw. Make that a BIT or two.

it took 13 hours cos i had to download it again after it crapped up on a dodgy web site server - after 5 hrs on downloadin. I then downloaded it for about 6-7 hours on a more reliable site server. The arsin around in between made up the 13hrs.

Ive heard on a few other forums - which were from a google search of the error that some other person has downloaded a file serveral times with the same problem. Dunno what that means though

I did actually disconnect from the internet, then reconnect and continue the download a few times (my ****ty isp has a 2-3 hr cut off so it was unavoidable)

Through my own experience I have found that the above will ( or may ) cause problems with large downloads.

I am on Cable internet. Yesterday I was downloding something and the power just dipped enough to blink the lights. I lost my Connection to the Net. ( XP told me so ). In fact my Cable Modem reset itself. I restarted the download and it picked up where it left off. When all was done the install for that program DID NOT work.

I went to another machine. Got the download again, Transfered it over to this one and all was well.
