    Welcome to the boards, goober.

What program are you trying to save files from? It helps to know this so we can figure out if it's you or the program that won't let you save as GIFs.

im using what ever program that comes with the windows OS to save my files. what i am trying to say is that the program will only let me save GIF files as a bitmap or an ART file.

Not your fault for being unclear. We just need more info sometimes so we can, hopefully, give a workable answer.

What I'm understanding is that you are trying to save pictures you see while surfing and the only option it gives you is BMP, right? If that's the case, try emptying your caches, temp internet folders and histories. Then try saving your pictures again. Let us know if this worked for you.

    :)

Did you reboot afterwards? Hmmmmmmmm. It should have worked.

I just did a SEARCH here on the board and ran across the same problem. Click HERE for an answer from the MS Database list. If that doesn't solve the problem then try doing a search on this BBS for other possible solutions. Sometimes each problem is unique and needs different solutions.

Please post back and let us know if any of this worked or if you need more help.

    Thanks, and good luck!

    :)

Just had another thought. I'm not sure what kind of files you are trying to save, but if you are using something like Photoshop or Print shop and you want to save them in a folder of your choosing, then you may have to save them as an EXPORT. I know it sounds weird, but that is how I save art that I create in my PrintMaster program. To save it to my Document folder I have to export and then it gives me all the options on where and how to save it. Gif, jpg, jpeg, text, etc. Maybe this is what you need to do.

Let us know! We want to help!!!!!

WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! DON'T GO YET!!!!! How did you solve the problem???? It would really help to know what the fix was so that anyone else with that problem can read it here and know what to do. Please post back.
