    Just thought I'd post a final update - I don't think there *is* a way to stop this from happening, so I guess I'll just have to be satisfied with at least knowing what it is I'm doing that triggers it! Thanks for the input!

    rebecca, when you went to this link;
    Disable new gestures in Windows 10

    Did you try the information with the green check mark?

    To control the gestures you need to

    1. Go to the "Devices" bit under the new "Settings" screen and select "Mouse & Touchpad" then at the bottom is "Additional mouse options".

      OR

      Go to the control panel and select "Mouse".

    2. When you select that you will get a tab for "Device Settings", select the "Synaptics TouchPad" then click "Settings", this will show you all of the gestures and allow you to turn them on or off.

    jholland1964: you are a godsend! That worked! I removed the check mark from "Enable edge swipes" under "Gestures", and those godawful mini-screens of all active windows are GONE! I can swipe from the left edge of my touchpad to my heart's content, and I can no longer replicate the problem!

    I thought I was getting email notifications when there were posts on this thread, but if I did, I missed it - I just happened to come here today to see if anyone else had started a similar thread, and lo & behold, I found your solution! THANK YOU!!!

    :D:D:D
