    Someone using my computer unknowingly gave permission to make xupiter.com the homepage. It installed a program on the computer. When I discovered it, I went to xupiter's page and found a link to uninstall. It didn't uninstall correctly and now I get a message saying "xupiter toolbar is not installed correctly. Please reinstall" every time I open a window. Since I don't know where the program came from originally (can't find it on their site anywhere) and they don't return emails I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how to get rid of this. There is one folder in the program files with one file in it that won't go away. Can anyone help? It's driving me crazy!

    Hi Kimmi
    Ad-aware will get rid of it.

    Ad-aware was one of the first things I tried. That didn't work. I just tried it again for kicks...no luck. Any other ideas?

    Yep...I've got more ideas. You can use the uninstaller from here. . Odd that Ad-Aware didn't get rid of it though. You're sure you've got the latest update for it?

    Thank you!!

    Thank you thank you thank you! I did an update on ad-aware. It found 116 more files, etc. But it still didn't get rid of xupiter. But the BHO Demon took care of my problem. Thanks so much.

    Well, success all around then. Congratualtions. Thanks so much for posting back with your results.

    Any chance you have "enable install on demand" checked in your internet options under the advanced tab? (If so, uncheck it....there may be two entries. Uncheck them both, if so)

    With ad-aware, do a Deepscan of the registry and drive once you have run the uninstall program.

    Make sure you are off line when you uninstall it, and that IE is closed.

    You're may still have a Xupiter ActiveX object in your Downloaded Program Files folder.
    If it's there, rightclick it, and choose properties.
    It probably has the following ID: {A27CFCAE-9351-4D74-BFFC-21EB19693D8C}

    Now rightclick the file, and choose delete.

    You'll have to reset your home page to the one you like as well.

    Also read that spybot will get rid of Xupiter.

    Lastly...you can do it manually . Keep in mind that this article is old.......and Ad-aware and spybot's fixes have come out since.
