I'm sure there is an option somewhere, but I can't find it. Every time I type an X (except in the middle of a word) it turns into a little box! I'm using Microsoft Word 2000. Does anyone know where to change this option? I know it's possible because my computer at work doesn't do this ... Thanks!

    From Word 2000 help files:
MY OFFICE DOCUMENT DISPLAYS SOME TEXT AS BOXES
Editing might not be enabled for the language If you see boxes instead of the correct characters in your document, presentation, spreadsheet, or form, you either don't have editing for that language enabled, or you don't have a font that supports that language. You need to enable editing for the language to display the characters. Enabling editing for the language will also install the proper font for displaying the characters on your system.

You might have used a font that doesn't support that language If there are still boxes in your Office document after enabling editing for the language, try to format the text with a different font to make the characters appear correctly. Arial, Times New Roman, and a few other fonts have support for all European languages. Microsoft Office 2000 comes with several fonts for Asian text.

    1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Programs, point to Office Tools, and then click Microsoft Office Language Settings.

    2. On the Enabled Languages tab, select the check boxes next to the languages you want.
