Is it possible (and legit) to install a RETAIL UPGRADE version of WinXP on a new build, as long as I have a legit Win98 CD for verification?

    I need an answer ASAP.

    Thanks.

Yeah, I realize that. I have a brand new retail XP Home Upgrade, with key, purchased at WalMart. I just need to know if i can (and legitimately) install it on a NEW build, using a Win98 CD that I own for verification.

So long as you own a version of Windows that qualifies for an upgrade...which Windows 98 is...yes, you can install the XP upgrade on a newly built computer.
