I have a problem when windows xp is starting up. It will boot abotu half my taskbar/tray items, the 'hang' for around one minute before the windows XP sound comes on and the rest of windows loads. When the system hangs i can still open my computer and look through some folders, others will just not open until the computer continues to load.
I did a format and it fixed the problem, now 6 weeks after a format this problem has arisen again. My PC specs are:
    Athlon XP 2800+
    Abit AN7 MoBo
    512 Mb PC3200 RAM
    Radeon 9600XT
    etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

You probably have added some software that loads at startup that is causing this. Are you on a network?

Yes, does sound like starting software is slowing down the bootup.

To get a list of your startups:

Download HijackThis from here http://radiosplace.com/ and put the zip file into its own folder. Un-zip and run the execute.

From the front panel click on Config...

On the 2nd panel click on Msc tools

Click on Generate startup list v1.52

    Regards - Charles
