    Good Evening Everyone
I am trying to copy my C Drive to A new formated drive letter G
When I use the instructions that is given by Sandra Underhill I seem to be having problems I type the command XCOPY C:\*.*G:\/C/H/E/K/R,
The black screen flashes but will not hold, and If I got to the DOS Promp in programs it does not recognize the command.

    Hi Gordon,

I'm afraid you have been misled. The XP system cannot be copied successfully by the method you mention. The article that you read was dated September 29, 2000 and applied to the older Windows versions that ran upon a DOS platform. XP was officially released on October 25th, 2001.

XP can be copied by many 3rd party softwares. It can even be copied in the pure DOS mode using a dos boot disk but only IF it has been install using the FAT32 files system (not normally done).

When installing a new drive which is to replace the old boot drive, you would normally use the software that comes with the new drive or else get it from the manufacturers download site. That software can "Bit Copy" the old drive to the new one in the command line mode.
