    Jim,
No more jokes. I don't want to be an evangelist or on drugs. I don't care how you use your computer, that's your business. I just shared an easy way to move a system file (You said you couldn't move the pagefile with d&d, even in safe mode!) and I tried to do it lightheartedly. Apparently, I failed. I don't envision myself on a higher plane at all, and my inexperience ought to be obvious. Because I never learned DOS and Win9X, I cannot imagine typing in all those careful commands in the previous post, when I can right click. I would never suggest to you that my way is better, or that you should do things in a different way. You are correct that everyone can work in their own style. I was only sharing my way because you asked, and because I'm lazy, and I thought someone else might appreciate a description of an easier way, too. I know you have years more experience than I do, and I would never presume to call your way of doing things "wrong ". I enjoy learning how other people do things, and I like having alternatives for problems that arise. I thought you did, too, because we've always kidded around about it. Goodnight, and have a pleasant tomorrow.

It means that XP has a new interface that allows one to do many things differently than previous versions of Windows, without using DOS and it's many commands and switches. :)

    Johanna ...

I'm sorry ... I should have mentioned, when I wrote that message last night, that I was a bit cranky, as well as tired.

Truthfully, I wasn't even aware of your method of moving files/folders, as I don't use the toolbar in WE ... it's a waste of screen "real estate" as far as I'm concerned. I tried your method this morning, though, and quite frankly, dragging and dropping just seems easier. The one advantage I can see in your method is that it permits the creation of a new folder during the Move process ... I have to do it before I drag and drop, but it's a simple Alt + F W F from the keyboard with the parent folder open in the right pane of WE.

BTW, I tried moving the swapfile by your method and was unable to do so. XP wouldn't let me because the file was in use (as, I suspect, it is at all times). It's easy enough to do in System Properties, though.

If you're referring to what I wrote about WE, that was only for purposes of illustration. I certainly wasn't suggesting that ANYone should open WE from the Run window. As for the rest, that was just an illustration of how to configure a shortcut so that WE opens at the same place every time. Personally, I open it at the My Computer level, then go where I want to.

I'm certainly with you on the advantage of learning new ways of doing things, but it's not necessary to "embrace the Blue" (shudder :p) to accomplish that. XP works the same way, whether it's gray or blue. You're far from inexperienced, Luna Lass, and I only came to the PC with Win95 ... I know just enough about DOS to put myself in a world of hurt. I count you as one of the better teachers on the BBS, and (almost) always enjoy your posts.

So, I'll leave you with this:
Luna Blue looks good on you,
So with it you should stick.

But I will stay with Classic Gray,
    Don't wanna be a LUNAtic!
    :D :D :D

"What do you want to do? "

    Johanna,

It's not a matter of color; it's a matter of power. I'm slow, but I finally (I think) get what you're talking about. You seem to be running everything in "native" XP and some of us, myself included, have switched to classic mode in some things. I use the XP StartMenu but NEVER the XP control panel or explorer, because I use the keyboard for everything that I can, and I hate reading long prompts like "What do you want to do?" 'cause I know what I want to do, and if XP will just shut up, I'll do it.

Note: Rockster keeps his mouth shut and just listens for a change.
