    Hi,

I upgraded my Father's computer (2Ghz Pentium) from an original Win 98 to XP Home. After the upgrade the activation page appeared which I selected to activate through the cable modem.

However, there was a problem with the internet connection which would not allow any internet connectivity. After many hours I found this to be down to an old installation of Zone Alarm (error 65!). I therefore uninstalled Zone Alarm correctly which then allowed full internet connection after a re boot.

I then selected Activate Windows. . . but the page which had previously had all the activation data and controls on it was now blank so I could not activate anything!!!! I have tried everything listed on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314935 but to no avail. As others seem to have fixed the same problem by reinstalling the OS I have also now reloaded XP from the installation disk but still the same problem!!!!

As I started this upgrade at 11am in the morning and it now 01:30hrs the next morning and I have still not managed to activate the XP upgrade I am starting to get a little frustrated with it. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks

    Phil
