I’m not exactly sure what happened. I use Mozilla Firefox (latest version). I use a HP Laptop ze2315us with Windows XP SVP2.

All of my HTM and HTML files are using the Internet Explorer Icon. I right clicked and tried to change the file icon but all icons came back using the Internet Explorer Icon. How can I get Windows XP SVP2 to change the icon back to Mozilla icon ?

It sounds like IE somehow got set as the default browser. First, so this doesn't happen again, open IE and click tools>internet options. Click the programs tab and make sure the line that says "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser" isn't checked. Then, close IE and open Firefox. In Firefox click tools>options and click on the general icon at the top. Then click the "check now" button. It will more than likely prompt you to set Firefox as the default. If so, choose yes.

You might also want to put a check in the box next to the line that says "Firefox should check.... ". That way if this happen again you'll be prompted about it when you open Firefox and be given the opportunity to change it again.

You may have to reboot for the icons to change. Not sure about that.
