    Hi all!

    Regarding the wpa.dbl file:

I helped a friend reinstall his activated XP Home and I copied the wpa.dbl to a floppy.

Nothing in his hardware configuration was changed. The reason for reinstalling was to partition the HardDisk in three rather than unpartitioned.

When XP Home was back on C:, I substituted the old wpa.dbl for the new one.
It still nagged about activation but re-activation was accepted without problem.

Is this what happens or did I do something wrong?

    Thanks for Your time,
    Christer

I never saw the need to mess with a backup/restore of the wpa.dbl file....

If I don't make many/any changes to my system I can (re)activate it over the Internet without problem, and if for some reason I would have to call, I would just do that. I know the proccess is pretty painless, I did it once during the XP beta stages...

    Hi Arie,
    thanks for Your reply!

I would think that, if nothing is changed, re-activation should be painless. It also seems to me that substituting the old wpa.dbl for the new doesn´t work. I had to re-activate anyway.
