I have a Compaq 5070 computer with Win 98 that my son gave me.
I installed WordPerfect 5.1 for windows on it. The install
went OK and I also installed the wordperfect print drivers
When I go to print using the wordperfect print drivers I get
this message "cannot open printer device" I need the
WordPerfect driver so I can use the envelope macro. I have
this program on my IBM Aptiva with Win 98 and have no problem
running wordperfect print drivers. I can understand that on
my XP computer the 16 bit wordperfect print driver will not
work. But the Compaq computer should be able to run the
wordperfect drivers since they work on my IBM computer. For
the life of me I cannot figure out how to get the wordperfect
print driver to work on the Compaq. All the help I can get
    is welcome.

    Thanks, Jerry

Problem I had with Wordperfect was that it wouldn't work after installing Norton Cleansweep. Spent many hours searching Norton and Corel, but found no reference. Uninstalled Norton and then W/P worked fine.
Have a look at the difference in programs you have on the Compac compared to the IBM, it may be one of these.
Hope this may save you some time and headaches.
    Matt
