I was typing something today in Word 2003 and noticed that the top margin was messed up. The type was starting at the very top of the page (there would be no room for a header) and I don't know what happened. I know that's kind of a vague description of what happened, but maybe someone can think of a starting point to help me. It's making my documents difficult and there's no way I could turn in a paper for school with margins like this.

In the Menu Bar, click on File, then on Page Setup, then on the Margins tab. That's where you set margins for the sides, top, and bottom of the page the way you want them.

Does that do it? Let us know.

In Word 2003 there is a facility to Hide White Space - see screen grab. I wonder if you have clicked on this. Purpose is to hide the white space - on the screen - so that you can see more text. I don't think it affects the printing at all. Have you tried a printout?

*Sigh* That was such a simple solution that I can't believe I didn't figure it out. I was going to try a print out, but I'm not going to lie to you, I have to take my laptop from the couch and plug the printer in and that five-six feet of walking seemed like an awful long way to go when I could just wait a few hours for a resopnse on here.

But yep, the show white space thing worked, can't believe I didn't know that existed. Thanks!

    Yes - a new (?) feature of 2003 - wasn't in 2000, never had Office XP.
