hey guys im new to both this forum and vista itself and im having alot of trouble installing vista final rtm 6000.

i got myself an iso of vista and it seems to work fine installing in xp until i get to about 30-40% then i basically get an error saying that it cannot copy over files.. the error says the numbers 0x80070241 and it **** annoying, ive tried installing vista on both my dvd drives but get the same error and about the same point. i have searched the forum here and has read all the similar threads but all don't really help. I have been told that i should boot from dos but i can't figure out how to actually boot this vista disc from dos. Everyone here seems to make it sound so easy but whenever i modify my cmos, with dvdrom as the first and only to load it just won't read properly.

I have made 3 copies and all give the same error, i have checked with the supplier of the iso and he has proved to me that his copy works fine, so i am sure it is not the acutally iso file. I burned the file using isoburn at 4x.

Any ideas guys.. please i need help :) Please explain what i can do and keep it simple, since when i comes to computer jargon i ain't that fancy ;)

EDIT: ok guys i sorta got past the above error but know when i get to the third stage of the installation, when vista restarts into dos i get an error which says something about error code:0xC0000005. Any ideas?

my error screen is basically like this..

Akatsuki - Welcome to the Board :)

The first point I must make is this ....

Your copy of the Vista iso is probably illegal and, if that is the case we cannot help you.

Even if your 'supplier' has a legal copy and, AFAIK these are only available to Technet or MSDN members or to beta testers who reported a proven bug, it would be illegal for him/her to pass on a copy to you.

Even if it loaded the copy is likely to be useless as you would be unable to activate it.

I read on the microsoft site that the iso's should only be burned at 1x or 2x and the was rc1.
